Exchanged email Valentine greetings this morning with my Sweetheart in Iraq, who is still "in transit" and thinking he may be moved to another camp before too long. We are missing each other. We're also missing our grandbaby sweetie, Liam, but know he is being cuddled and pampered this Valentines Day by loving and loved mommy and daddy. Here on the homefront, our equally sweet Matthew is headed out with family friends to the first of this year's local Mardi Gras parades. He continues to do so well and is looking forward to enjoying another event without a hangover tomorrow morning! The meetings he attends and the things he is doing show that he is still committed to living a sober life. It is wonderful to witness the excitement and energy he has now about life in general. Praise God!
It is still quite chilly here today but the sky is clear and blue, so looks like the parade krewes will have a great turn-out. The parkway and some of the side streets were closed off last night, and several early birds had already taken their places in travel trailers and tents, etc. Matthew and the families he'll be with have a prime spot since one of them lives in a townhouse right on the parkway. I'll watch the parade on television but he promised to bring his Mom home lots of beads and other throws! Tomorrow after church I'm going to run by Michael's and get supplies to make a fluer-de-lis art piece for over the mantel. Will probably leave it up for awhile but it will be nice to have that added to the other Mardi Gras decorations around the house. Right now I'm headed to fix myself a cup of tea and then it's to the guest bedroom to work on setting up my new teacup/saucer cabinet. Pictures will be forthcoming! HAPPY VALENTINES DAY to all.
